Course is currently in development stage.
Since Restorative Practices values relationships, this 6-week, 3 credit course is interactive and reflective. Therefore we will be participating in group chats, reflective group discussions, and reflective personal writing.
Participants must purchase the Restorative Practices Handbook for Teachers, Disciplinarians, and Administrators. This book can be purchased for $12 at amazon.com or the International Institute of Restorative Practices’s online bookstore (store.iirp.edu/books).
This course is not a training as training requires face to face interaction and practice. Therefore, you are not expected to know how to use the practices upon completion of this course. You will, however, gain an in-depth understanding of what it means to operate from a restorative lens and how the practices can be used in schools. If you are interested in training upon completion of this course, I will gladly assist you with locating a trainer in your area.
This course is designed to help teachers develop cultural understanding and a repertoire of communication skills to converse with ELL/Spanish-speaking only students and family members.
